SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8th
On every last Saturday of each month in 2025, we have invited the public and individuals interested in stop-motion and the animation process to attend our Animation Jams. Each month a different professional animator has been on site at MOSMA HQ working on a short piece of animation and we want to invite you to meet the animators, other stop-motion industry professionals, ask questions and network. This will be our final Animation Jam in 2025 due to holiday schedules.
Join us as we explore ideas, materials, discuss and focus on all things stop-motion animation.
THIS MONTH’S GUEST ANIMATOR: Sergio Valdivia de la Torre
Sergio Valdivia de la Torre is a Mexican stop motion animator born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. His first jobs before animation were in a car detailing shop and as a bag-boy in a supermarket. He collaborated in more small projects as an assistant puppet maker, assistant rigger, and assistant animator. He finally graduated animating most of the student film “Story Prowler” (directed by Aranza Engle and Eduardo Zepeda, 2018). Later he was selected as one of the stop motion animators to work on “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” (directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, 2022) for the “Black Rabbits” sequences made at the second unit of the film at Taller del Chucho in Guadalajara. He then joined the international team to help with the “Training Campgrounds” sequence at Shadow Machine in Portland. He served very briefly as a guest animator in the feature film “Soy Frankelda”, 2025. Selected as one of the “Variety´s/Nickelodeon 10 Animators to Watch” class of 2022.
